dev2, prod3 folders etc.. in var/cache

Hello,

I have needed to manually clear the cache several times by deleting the contents (sometimes the folders themselves, I believe) of the dev and prod folders located in /var/cache.

Today, I still need to do it following a 500 error on the BO, and I am starting to wonder about the usefulness of the other folders present in /var/cache.

In addition to dev and prod, there are folders such as dev2, devccc, pro_, prod3, and prodcc which contain more or less the same subfolders.

Considering the size of each of these folders, it must weigh down the site for simple duplicates... I find the site already quite slow, so it would be stupid.

Can someone tell me what's going on?
