Ajax issues on VPS

Hello,

I am running a 1.7.6.5 site on a VPS (PHP 7.2, PHP-FPM, Apache) and notice that there are sometimes 404 errors on Ajax requests. If the requests are not completed and the 404 errors continue to appear in the console, a click on another page of the back office results in the 404 page. I do wonder if there is a buffering problem which means that some scripts are not loading or are loading in the wrong order.

I have a beta version of the same site running on 1.7.7.7 on the same server (this time on PHP 7.3) and the same error occasionally crops up but not with the same regularity.

Has anyone had this kind of error? I sense that I am missing a server configuration somewhere.
