Change automatically product variant when out of stock (PS8)

On Prestashop 1.7 I was using a module to change the default products variant when the main one it's out of stock.

Now I'm upgrading to PS8 and asking to the developer of the module if he will release a vesion compatible with PS8 he said me that there will be no release for it, because this feature has been implemented into PS8.

I tested this, but the variant doesn't change automatically and I can't find any setting into back office about this feature.

Do you know if this feature has been implemented or not, and how to use it?

Hello.
If the module is activated, its override is used, which replaces the Prestashop functions.
In short, disable the module and clear the cache.

The module it's disabled because not compatible with PS8.
