Prestashop 1.7 issue with search module included in theme

Hi everyone. I have a prestashop 1.7 site which is using a theme that comes along with a search module - jolisearch module. It works similar to the default prestashop searchbar module except the fact that the search results are too slow. I did do a customisation to show categories as a block next to product listing but this isn't what's causing the issue as the issue prevailed prior to the customisation. Can anyone give me any reason or how to fix this issue - atleast speed up the process of searching ?
