VAT or not VAT: that is the question

Recommended Posts

As so many here I have problems setting up a correct scenario for a mixed audience of commercial and private customers from all over the world (PS 1.4)

I set up the home country, countries, taxes and tax rules as well as some demo items. I activated the European VAT number add on. I set the default group to 0 discount and prices to be displayed as gross.

1. If a EU customer outside of my home country registers WITH a valid VAT number the prices are displayed as net which is correct but with the text "incl. tax" which is definitely wrong
2. If said commercial customer checks out all documents including the invoice are giving the prices as VAT including which is also wrong.

Any help is greatly appreciated because all other features are working nicely as far as I can tell. But without a working VAT set up the shop is useless for B2B merchants.

Thank You

As a follow up: I tested it now with a commercial customer from my own country and unfortunately even in this case a valid VAT number is required. For local business such is NOT required and many companies do not even have one.

Update 2: I gets weirder - still a EU commercial customer with a valid VAT number. The sent out emails as well as all displays from within the shop are INCLUDING VAT but the invoice for COD/wire transfer is WITHOUT plus the correct sentence about not charging VAT.
Which means the system tells the customer to pay 1200 (incl. 20% VAT), the money comes and the invoice issued says 1.000. Cool.

Anyone manage to make a correct B2b transaction in different EU states?

I confirm exactly what he said even on Presatshop 1.4.1 B2B with valid VAT in different EU states are not usable.
They still can see price and shop andI get the order with VAT tax included but on the pdf total is correct without VAT even if it still shown in the PDF.

Any tip on the code to modify to correct this and use correctly B2B EU transaction?

I changed the piece of code and it works (1.4.1). As I said - it still says incl. tax although net prices are shown but everything else works. But I am talking European VAT, not US sales tax.

can you please tell me what code did you change in order to make it work?
