Emails not Going to Cusotmers

I am setting up a new store.  I created two fake accounts with two different emails.  I placed an order with both of the accounts and the emails were never received to the email boxes.  I did get the email to the main store email telling me there was an order placed though.

Does sending the test email in the email menu work?

No it does not

So your store is not able to send email, if you use the basic function I suggest you switch to the SMTP option and configure the account that should send the messages.

The email address I set up for the store does get an email that an order was placed.  Just the customer one does not.
