[Solved]Adding a block between the menu and columns

Hi,
I want to add a slideshow between the menubar and columns (at top of pages). To do so i changed the position of columns in global.css by adding "top:...px" (because my slideshow was hidden by columns). It has given me the place to put my slideshow block where i want but the problem is that now my columns are hiding the footer.
Is there any way to solve this problem.
Or what i am doing is even the right thing to do?
