Remove $HOOK_LEFT_COLUMN form header file but still show in front office

Hello,
I am using prestashop version 1.4.1.0
I have remove the left part hook from the header.tpl file but it still show on front office page.
Can anyone tell me what happened. I how to delete or edit my own style and menu in prestashop 1.4.1.0
Please help me.

first, I guess it is cache issue.

you can change to force Smarty to compile at Reference - Performance at back office
or manually clear cache and compiled files at following folder

YourSiteRoot/tools/smarty/compile
YourSiteRoot/tools/smarty/cache


secondary, I think you can change hook at Modules - Positions to remove all unnecessary module from left column.
