Send an email link

I can put a link in a product to open the email app, but I can't make it put in the email address I want the email to come to. (I'm using a MacBook if that makes any difference) I used to put mailto:// (my email address) as the link url, and the email form would open with the 'To' box completed with my email  address. Now it opens the email app but doesn't put my email address in the 'To' box. 

Can anyone point me in the right direction to srt this out

Can you send the link that you want to open? 
Probably if there is a space character it will not paste the email in the To: input box.
