How to link a virtual download to a file uploaded to a directory on the webhost?

I want to sell a virtual download and be able to FTP a file to a place on the webhost where the shop has access to. 

How can I do this?

Thanks, I can see I can manually upload a file for each product.  What I mean is I want to link that file to a file locally on the webhost.

So I can remotely FTP a file to replace the existing file. Is that possible through a module or otherwise?

Like I mentioned above. I dont want to manually upload a file for a virtual product. I want to just link to a file locally somwhere that gets delivered when paid for.

Ideally that locally stored file link should be encrypted so that customers cannot access it a second time or pass it to other customers.

In the background I want to be able to FTP the updated file weekly to a location on the webhost.
