Newsletter - Not Storing Signups At Checkout

Hello,

I have no records of any sign ups to my Newsletter when I got to Backoffice > Modules > Newsletter

However the Newsletter column is ticked in many customers when visiting Backoffice > Customers

Any idea why this data isn't being stored in the Newsletter signup (At checkout)? Please help.
