When I tested selling the PDF, I found that all you had to do was enter the domain name and file path, and visitors could download the PDF without having to pay or register

I only want registered users to download purchased documents, not unpaid documents

You need to create a virtual product, and attach the PDF to the product.

You may have misinterpreted my meaning

I was going to use PrestaShop to sell paid electronic documents. You are uploading it as an attachment, instead of as the product good:

This is not the best way, you need to upload the file from backend. the option which @joseantgv suggest. then user are able to download the digital product when they purchase either payment or free. Normally attachement show the file to download. but attached file extension can't know by front end.
