make translations of categories/products SOLVED

hi,
i have selected 4 languages on my website for my customers to choose between,
but now i have started with filling and creating categories,
i made one for a language, and was thinking i can create the translation in another language
but it is showing two times category on each language,
so there has to be another way of making one category and changing/translate it into the other languages
but not by making a new translated category but by doing something else???
someone out there who can tell me where in the backend i can do this/make translations for each category/product?
i have been looking but can't find appaerently ...

Can you explain to what you did please. I can't translate anything on my site. I've gone to translations/ modify translations. made the changes but nothing changes in front end.
