[1.7] Generating Subtabs

While developing a module we came across a problem with 1.7's tab system. We created multiple tabs in a module, and we would like to order them in a new parent so they wouldn't create a mess in the menu system. After checking the developer documentation we could not find a way to add a new tab which collects them.

The best solution for us would be adding a new drop down menu tab like Orders or Catalog so we could organize our new tabs. Is there a way to do this?
