How to Increase Resolution Quality of Imported Photos in product Description

Hi there

I have problem which drives me crazy. I use lot of different images which I import in product short description and product description.

Problem is that every image I created in Corel Draw will come up not the sharpest, at least not as sharp as product images.

You can see example on product linked bellow-

https://promovision.co.nz/blunt-umbrella/1953-blunt-classic-umbrella.html

Image in short description (blue banner like with orange outline) is image I created but it just look blurry. Image I uploaded in File Manager is nice, sharp and high res photo.

Also in tabs Product Colours and Printing Images are images I created. They look blurry even if I uploaded high res sharp photos.

To make things even more confusing, images used in Description tad and Specification tab are stock photos from supplier web site and they came up nice as sharp, same as product photos.

I use PrestaShop 1.6..

Could anyone know how to solve my problem?:)

Many thanks in Advance

Adam

had the same problem, solved doubling the resolution in DESIGN -> IMAGE SETTINGS, there you can find the resolution, in my case i doubled Large Default, Medium Default and Home Default. Some theme will show the image correctly some will show a oversized image, just run few test.

Previous resolution 500x500? go to 1000x1000 and resize the uploaded picture accordingly, in few case you need to regenerate the thumbnails.

Thank you Danny.

I just want to check once again with you, as I am quite novice with this- In my system i have PREFFERENCE>Images as per photo attached. And than in Edit to double up resolution, for instance large_default is currently 458px X 458px and I should make it 916px X 916px and so on for medium_default and home_defalut?

Indeed the resolution is low, i think you can go more than doubling as long you keep the aspect ratio like 1000x1000, mine was 800x800 and on big screen was blurry so i raised it to 1600x1600. Once you raised the resolution the effect will be not visible on old products, you need to create a new one and see if it got better. If i remember correctly those three are the ones that show products pictures. Just run few test, you can always switch back.

Thank you heaps. I will play with it and once i get it right I will go back and redo old ones:)

Also check for the jpg quality and dont set it too low, it save space but it impact on the quality of the image.

I am sorry but what do you mean about .jpg quality and don't set it too low?

Every photo I create in Corel Draw I would save as high resolution and I would drag it in to folder in PrestaShop file manager before I insert/edit photo in to product description.

I assume PrestaShop would save it as is?

Unless there is some setting for .jpg quality in PrestaShop?

If you see the image you sent me on the low part you can see a box, JPG and the value 90, which is good. That Value is the quality of the jpg file, 100 is the maximum but unnecessary high. I said that just to let you know you have that option.

Ok, here is what I did- home_default- I tripled to 750px XX 750pxx, large_default I increased to 1600px_160px.

I tripled medium- default but I put it back to normal 125px X 125px as it messed up subcategory photos.

O also increased JPEG quality to 100.

All changes did nothing, apparat it decreased product photo within photo frame as you can see  from attached photo.

all other photos I added in tabs are still blurry.

Interesting thing is that all those phots are imported in high resolution in the back office and they are sharp as razor, but front office still display them in lower resolution.

Any more ideas to solve this headache?:)

Thank you

New update.

Looks like I have different problem. I went to my parents house for cup of coffee and I checked how it look on my father's computer and to my surprise, it looked awesome.

As he is using Firefox and I use Chrome, I downloaded Firefox and wow. On attached photo you can see side by side same page Chrome and Firefox. Difference is day and night.

Looks like I have different problem, not with photo resolution:)

The right image is larger. You always risk fuzzy images when change the image size.

Same image, same web page, just two different browsers.

I found what is issue with Chrome and I fixed it. Later on I will write post how I fixed it for further searches for solution:)
