Can't get pricing by weight to work.

Hi I am trying to setup a bulk food product that has weight combinations that each sell for a differing price per kilo. Say three weights 1kg @ $6.00 per kg, 5kg @ $5.00 per kg & 25kg @$ 4.00 per kg. I want to be able to select the weight and the price change and the per kilo price under it.

I can get various parts working through the config panel, but not altogether.

Well can't you just add special prices like;

If 1 food item weights 1kg and sells for $6
Apply special price for 5 items (=5kg) gives a discount of $5 (5*6  - 5*5 = 5)
Apply special price for 25 items (=25kg) gives a discount of $50 (25*6 - 25*4 = 50)

Or am I misunderstanding?

I don't think there is a built-in option to "to be able to select the weight and the price change and the per kilo price under it"
Maybe some module can do that for you

I am trying to use price and weight combinations using default backend fields and getting wrong calculations and differing visible results in store. After some more research I see that this is a long time bug involving combinations and pricing that does not seem to be resolved. Maybe that explains the very expensive custom modules for product combinations available.
