My Prestashop 1.7.7.5 is behaving odd

Hi,

Could i please get some assistance with my prestashop. I installed version 1.7.7.5 everything was fine with the install i noticed however that when im navigating the admin end quite a few links like the order link amongst other dont work they keep bouncing me back to the homepage of the admin section. I have a customer who tried to order and was unable to complete there order they contacted me luckily i was able to go the cart and when i tried to create an order from this cart it kept bouncing me back to the dashboard page.So i had to copy down the cart on notepad edit and mail it to myself to confirm the order.  

Is there anybody who can assist me with this please.

I turned on debug mode no error came up as sort I went to the information section and this came up

could you zip server error log or latest line copy and share here?

Error Log is a file that is created during data processing to hold data known to contain errors, and that is usually printed after completion of processing so that the errors can be corrected.

Path of error log vary for server to server If you are using Apache server then you can find it on /var/log/apache2/error.log

for Nginx it would be /var/log/nginx/error.log.

Try to find in /var/log/YOURSERVERNAME/ directory.
and error log can be in different place for every server 

Prestashop Backoffice also shows the logs in
–> Advanced Parameters
–> Logs
Also, what PHP version you use for 1.7.7.5?
if you can share with me your BO and ftp access credentials then PM me and I will c heck it for you.

I checked the logs theres only informative only logs of the back office there is no errors as such there

I was thinking, If I was to remove my Presta install, reinstall the latest version and then is there a way i can change the installation database to point to the older database and then re upload my images directory for all pics, Would that work.

when you install new shop so Prestashop will ask you DB connection details.
if you will write old one then shop will connect to old db

Then can i re upload the image directory for all the photos of products. and that should solve the issue. As its a new fresh install.

Also if i point to old db it wont try to install over and rewrite the database.

if you will connect old db to the new version of PS then it may not work.
You can try below steps:
1) create new DB, install new shop and link it to new DB
2) after new ps installation, change current details to old one (from presta config file)
3), copy img folder from old shop to new one

One last thing how do I change the configuration file to point to the old database.

delete browser cache/cookies.

Then try this inside your db using phpMyAdmin find and update the configuration row PS_COOKIE_CHECKIP on table yourprefix_configuration like this:

UPDATE yourprefix_configuration SET value = 0 WHERE name = 'PS_COOKIE_CHECKIP';

clean PS cache then.

Hi, 

Just to update i did it. I re installed a fresh copy and pointed int to the old database which is fine i then had some issues with the images not loading but i sorted that out by disabling the friendly url and re enabling it after deleting my .htaccess file. I was happy to notice it was looking like its working fine. but then i tried to navigate to my back end order section and it still bounced me back to the dashboard is this an actual error with Presta 1.7.7.5 has anybody else had any experience with this issue

Thanks for your message. I'm a bit of a novice on this. I'll open the database and what table am I looking for or can I open the database and enter your command in the sales section. Once I've done that how do I clear the ps cache.

Oh ok. So... i was trying to help... but if you're unconfortable with that, please don't touch the db. My suggestion was to find the configuration table, set value =0 inside PS_COOKIE_CHECKIP to check if this could help. If not, you need to re-set value=1 inside the same place.

Please be advised that some kind of problems could arrive from different sources. That's why sometimes there's need to check step by step.

did you ever get this solved? I just upgraded my store and im getting all the same missing files in the backoffice
