caffe663
Hello everyone. My shop is loading slowly and i try to move it to a better sever so i can run faster. I watch several guides and videos on how to move (or migrate) my website to a new sever here are my steps: Step 1 : Put my site on maintenance mode, clear cache download all the back up (from the hosting site) step 2: I export the data base table on the old hosting and try to import to the new hosting ( i am stucking here) So here are my problems: Both my new and old hosting have the same domain is that ok? Do i have to install prestashop on the new hosting before i upload all the back up file on the new hosting sever ? Why can't i import my database? Below here are my old and new phpmyadmin The old one And the new one Thank you guys in advance. To migrate you can just get all files from the public_html folder and upload the content of that folder into the public_html folder in your new server. Adjust the respective config files and upload the database. The error is because no database was selected before the upload 1
El Patron
hi, no you do not need to run ps installer to migrate to new hosting I recommend pointing a spare domain name to new hosting for testing first. This way you can test your migration works before you change dns of your production domain to point to new hosting. this will save you lots of stress. If you don't have spare buy one. once you created a db, db user, db pwd tell us how you are trying to upload, it's not clear in your screen shot but it's pretty simple process.
caffe663
Thank both of you for responding, i uploaded it by changing all the collation in the old sql file from utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci to utf8mb4_general_ci is it ok? I can't do the pointing domain step, my hosting site would not allow to change the name sever And if i want to migrate the shop, are the steps below ok: I put the shop on maintaince mode, change the url in the back office, copy the back up and paste it on the new host file page,do some of editing in the config/setting like in the clip on the youtube(this clip https://www.youtube .com/watch?v=4rw7gwny-AU). Are all these steps good ? And how can i change the new website name to my old website name or how can i migrate keeping my old website name. Thank you guys in advance. El Patron
Hi Caffee663, if your hosting won't allow you to have 2nd spare domain point to your hosting for pre-test you should consider new hosting. There are 'many' guides on how to migrate from one hosting to another so do some googling, now you are re-inventing the wheel and we cannot just say yea those are the steps. Always pre-test before changing production you will save a lot of stress and save your hard work from being destroyed.
