Prestashop 1.6 & PHP7.4 on customised theme help

Hi all, 

 

Im new here and would really appreciate if someone can help me resolve a potential issue that will arise when my server hosting company ends support for php7.3 and below. My site will no longer function. Im using php 7.03. All servers will run on php7.4 or 7.3 after June. 

I installed a theme purchased from Themeforest. This got developed and customised considerably.  

How can i upgrade the core prestashop version without losing the customisation and the theme.

PS 1.6 supports until PHP 7.1 version: https://devdocs.prestashop.com/1.7/basics/installation/system-requirements/#php-compatibility-chart

So you could:

• Update only PHP version and fix the errors that appears
• Update/migrate your PS version to the last one with PHP 7.3
• Change your hosting to one that maintains PHP 7.1 version

you need to find hosting where you can manage 'yourself' the php version of any domain you have.

many many shops went out of business not having control over the php...

run don't walk to find hosting where you can still have older versions of PHP, preferably plesk control panel

I opted to re create the site in a subdomain but also decided to use a new domain since im starting fresh again.  The new domain has been in use as a subdomain as an email server. 

Are you able to guide me to the steps i need to take to maintain my SEO from the old domain to the new domain? If you could develop and customize the site?

I have not been able to get prestashop working on 7.4 as of yet without bugs.  Your hosting provider if on Cpanel needs php-fml for clients. That way you can stay on 7.3 and others can be on 7.4 if needed.
