LovePrestashop
I have a long exiting prestashop which was created 10 years ago. It's version is still 1.4.11. I know it is not a good idea to upgrade it from 1.4 to 1.7 as they are very different. My question is - how can I install a brand new shop 1.7 on the same host and then migrate all data from 1.4 database to 1.7 database? I just wanted to keep all products and sales records. Thank you so much for your help!
Rhobur
It would take time but you can upgrade to each latest major versions as in 1.4 -> 1.5 -> 1.6 and finally to 1.7. This with all the modules disabled or uninstalled. Either that or check the paid migration modules for one that does support 1.4 to 1.7. I'd do the first. musicmaster
If you take a migration module check that they copy everything that you want copied. Most are general purpose software that copies towards Opencart, Shopify, etc. So they may lack some Prestashop specific features.
popolon
I'm currently in the process of doing it and i would suggest to upgrade from Prestashop 1.4 to 1.6 (1.6.1.24) first (with 1 click upgrade module 1.6.8) on a local machine with a copy of your website. Then, you can try to migrate (with either migrationpro module or the other one from ETS) to Prestashop 1.
