How to cancel an old order on PS1.7.7

I have a couple of old orders, on my system that I want to tag as cancelled.

The orders have been manually refunded via Paypal months ago, (after the Paypal refund period expired).

In trying to cancel from the BO, I get a Paypal/PS error message on the order page "You are over the time limit to perform a refund on this capture".

Any ideas how I can cancel the order.
