PS 1.7.7 is not compatible with PHP 7.0 So you better stick with 7.1.

Did you enable debug mode?

Did you check for PHP errors in the server's error log?

Are you using any special modules? They might be the problem. You might try using Prestools to disable non-Prestashop modules and overrides.
