bexvlad
There are several threads re StkMvt Reason=-1 Fatal Error. I have fixed this by adding a new Default Stock Movement Reason (Edit Product) and this seems to solve the short-term issue in that it allows simple changes to text, price, image, etc without throwing an error. However, the previous Default Stock Movement set during the upgrade to 1.4 (the default default, if you like) is Order and that does not prevent errors. Also I have to give my new default a movement value (I chose Up, so as to avoid putting unique items as 'out of stock') which means that my stock levels are erroneously increased each time I edit. So a unique piece could be sold and shown as still in stock and available for sale.We need, at the very least, a Stock Movement Reason which allows 'no change' to stock levels. bexvlad
Come to think of it, I can see no good reason for the Stock Movement mechanism in the Catalog section on Admin. If you want to increase or decrease the stock you just change the numbers!
bexvlad
I now realise that, when editing a product, the default Stock Movement is 0.So it really matters not whether you set you Stock Movement Reason up or down because it will increment by precisely zero! What a muddle. Astarta
Subscribed to the topic, bexvladWaiting for your another thoughts on the topic because I really don't know too what the hell is this stock movement
bexvlad
I think it means that you can automatically increase or decrease the stock level as you perform some form of edit to a product (although I cannot think when or why you might want to do this - it might just as well be a bowel movement as far as I am concerned). The point is that, in many cases, the way PS 1.4 has been set up, the default settings create a mystifying error message when people try to change an image or a price.Glad to amuse you! Astarta
I might be extremely happy to know in which cases it works automatically except what you mentioned (editing product). What worries me most is what happens after order and sale, does it decrease the stock
bexvlad
The default action is that a sale decreases the stock BUT you can change it! WHY?
Astarta
That is interesting. And how can I do that?I cannot find any signs of managing these mystic mechanismsI mean, I know that I can name reasons of stock movement with different names in Catalog→Stock Movement and make them default or not but I can't see where I can manage that they decrease stock on order and such
bexvlad
Go to Catalog, Stock Movements, scroll right down and you will see that each Stock Movement Reason has an Up (green) arrow or down (red) arrow that either increases or decreases the stock level when the Reason is called.Go to Edit one of the reasons and you can determine which direction the stock movement is, and by what increment. The whole point of this thread is that I find it necessary to create a Stock Movement Reason called something like Page Edit with an increment of zero (direction unimportant) and set this as the default Reason, to get round the standard bl**dy error message. :-)
Astarta
This is not automatic. Just tags for doing things with stock manually. I mean where can I find how to tell system that it should for example automatically decrease stock for ordered products when I change order status from In preparation to Shipped? zigojacko
It's a complete load of rubbish. There is so many bugs with stocks control (1.4.6.2). I don't even want stock control managed in this Prestashop for a client and it's causing so many issues even with it disabled! Furious!
