little modification on the native search engine-form of ps 1.6

Hi guys I'm trying to make an improvement over our search form (blocksearch module iirc)

the question is i don´t know which files are related to this, i mean does it work as a module or it's affected by core files etc too (which im not so familiarized with)

once i know how to start, i'll start to work on this so i probably will have more questions

the workaround we need as our shop is unique item selling based, is to omit a certain category of the searching algorythm (the category to omit are previously sold items)
