Beginner Admin Module Development

Currently I starter learning the module development for Prestashop. I am using version PS 1.6.1.6.

Started with documentation and couple of video tutorials.

My module goal is to place a button for a specific product in the backoffice. The placement could be on the navigation bar or the product list. When the button is clicked there will be an action to send information about the product to slack channel.

Can you give me some starting points on what to search on and how to develop this module?

As my understanding goes I have to extent some admin controller, maybe product's. Then create and add template for my controller to the respected product or navigation bar.

By navigation bar I mean that bar which Quick Access button is located.
