ella1007
Hi,I'm a newbie here. I like Prestashop & would like to use it for my e-commerce website but having problems finding a hosting company. Can anyone recommend good hosting for PrestaShop? I would really appreciate any suggestions.I'm currently trying HostGator and Pacific Host and not very happy with both. Hostgator uses Quick install & the only option to install is without the 'www' & it makes a difference how shopping cart will index/connect pages & I would like to install with http(s)://www.domainname.com. They have to do whole coding in .ahaccess to correct this (and I worry if this would be ok in the long term, no problems. it would be much better to just install it with 'www' included). Also, I have a website already under my domain name & need temporary url set-up under my dedicated IP with /login.php at the end so I can log-in to my presta and work on it untill it's finished (and then will point DNS to my new Presta store). They don't know how to do it (me neither), i'm still waiting... Pacific Host uses Softaculuos, so I have no problems with 'www' BUT still the same problems with setting up a temp url for me (still waiting for them as well). Hostgator support seems more responsive/polite but they still haven't fixed my issue & it's been days!! (and then I read some problems with their global_directory ON - not sure what it is but sounds bad). Also heard unsatisfactory reviews about 1&1;... Was thinking about GoDaddy, but they don't have Softaculous/link to install Presta. I would prefer a big reputable company like Yahoo, I LOVE their technical support - very knowledgable, can reach by phone 24/7, don't need a ticket (that's my registrar) but they don't offer presta hosting :-( I don't know a lot about IT & would like a company that knows about PrestaShop and could remedy my 2 issues & in general could offer Presta support later as well. I just saw that PrestaShop supposedly offers hosting as well (back from July 2008) but didn't see any updates, no url with info, features, pricing, etc. This is very URGENT, I'm already behind schedule with this unexpected problems & would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks so much,

ella1007
Update: e-mailed VidaHost... Also found Arvixe.com - they seem really nice, good tech support (24/7, phone, chat, e-mail) but they're using PHP version 5.2.14 Prestashop says: * Some PHP 5 versions are bugged and prevent PrestaShop from working correctly: - PHP < 5.2 (invalid date timezone)I'm not a tech person, so would PHP 5.2.14 be a problem? (does it have to be 5.0 or 5.3, or anything after 5.2 is ok, which this one seems it is).I've done so much research here & hope my experience will help others looking for good Presta hosting as well! ella1007
Well, I still haven't received any reply from Prestashop about their hosting :-( Found a blog post from 2008 that mentioned their upcoming hosting services, sounded great & contacted them using contact form but no reply since then. Looked at GoDaddy & A2Hosting but going with arvixe.com. So far both issues fixed, will see how it goes.. Hope my research will help others looking for good prestashop hosting in the US.PS: If anyone from the Presta management team is reading this, I would still like to find out more about your hosting, Prestabox, and help with creating prestashop store
