Can someone point me in the right direction please  a few pointers would be superb 

Im using default theme  on 1.6.1.24   

I just need to shorten the space between the menu titles to allow the last item to jump back up on the top line  instead of having a 2nd line, the gap is quite large  out of the box  and  my menu is just getting forced onto a second line
