Currency not supported in PayPal 170.4.8

Paypal module not converting to USD. I have prestashop 1.7.6.7 and paypal module version 170.4.8

When we try to process a payment with my default currency (ID=3), which is not supported by paypal, we end up getting error 10605 as shown in attached image. 
It works fine with USD (ID=5)

I have tried the fix from the forums below with no avail. Please, any ideas how to fix this issue?
