DonaldM
Hello all. I thought I would post this in case there are other users who have been having a terrible time with 500 errors all over the BO. I have reinstalled PS so many times in the past few weeks that I can do it with my eyes closed. Well, it was all for nothing. Still, a fresh new install won't hurt... Please try setting your server to PHP 7.4. (yep, despite all advice to the contrary). All my problems went away ! Yours might too ! Might... Guest
Why are you trying to do something that is not recommended?
DonaldM
Because it worked. Install with 7.2 (cause that is recommended and works), then change to 7.4 to operate, because that works. I clearly stated that this was contrary to what is out there, including the recommended settings which I am familiar with. Prestashop is way behind in it's updates, probably because of some sort of crisis in France, or is it the world? The hosting companies are not falling behind because the world's hackers don't give them a choice but to keep up. Anyhoo, it's just a post to share my experience. I leave it up to members to use this advice at their own peril or elation. www (wash hands, wear a mask, wave from a distance). Donald

Realize that an e-shop needs web hosting. There are web hosts that do not have new versions of PHP. Did you also write your knowledge to all web hosts? Did you know that Prestashop 1.7.7.2 is already? https://devdocs.prestashop.com/1.7/basics/installation/system-requirements/ Edited March 18, 2021 by Guest (see edit history)

Installations at local or web host, with php 7.4 still fail with some functionality inspite of PrestaShop version Edited April 20, 2021 by Oleg Tortajada (see edit history)
Guest
It will be better if you find out what mistakes. Look in the log or make a screen with an error.
middlesboro
I was able successfully run prestashop 1.7.6.4 on PHP 7.4. Only problem i had was on product detail, and list page. On the begging it looked like JS problem, but that of course doesn't have any sense. There is a problem with Twig and PHP 7.4. There is just needed upgrade twig at least to version 1.41, or just simple replace file /vendor/twig/twig/src/Lexer.php with version from https://github.com/twigphp/Twig/releases/tag/v1.41.
