baobaz
Yeah..I have been searching for this module too but I didnt get one...
in2sky
Thanks. I find it odd that a simple blog has not been made for PS.It'd be much simpler than coupling a wordpress with prestashop...
baobaz
PrestaShop v1.4+ ships with a native CMS module. What is missing, to suit a "blog" longing? Thanks for your comment Angora.Yeah I know.. prestashop v1.4+ ships have native CMS module. But I think, it's missing Comment and Tag feature for being A Blog. Is anyone have solution for this problem? Thanks You...
in2sky
It'd be so nice if 1.5 would get a blog module with categories...
guest*
It'd be so nice if 1.5 would get a blog module with categories... Categories you als can add with presta 1.4.X. The only things what are missing are comments and tags, as written on a post above.
in2sky
But dates and category names doesn't appear on the blog posts, isn't it?I would love to know how to use the CMS as a blog, and display a BLOG in the menuthen each post with dates and category appears with pagination... guest*
Yes they appear. You must go to modules -> cms and configure this there. After added the categories to the blog you can see them and klick them for sites and sub-categories in each category link.
in2sky
Thanks alot. In modules -> cms I set up a category named BLOGAfter that, in cms I created a blog post named "First blog entry" that's under BLOG.Now, how do I add the BLOG to my "top horizontal menu" ?Went there and the only thing I could add was that I could add the actual entry "First blog entry" to my menu, but could not see "BLOG", the category... guest*
I use this top horizontal menu too. Go to cms, create there on bottom a link to your blog and than set this on the module "top horizontal menu" like the other categories and pages.
in2sky
thanks! Can't seem to make it work. I created a category named BLOG, then created a link below named BLOG as well, and that I use to link to the top menu. Something's wrong though...Check the screenshot. guest*
thanks! Can't seem to make it work. I created a category named BLOG, then created a link below named BLOG as well, and that I use to link to the top menu. Something's wrong though...Check the screenshot. You are right. By this way it does not work. I had on my top category the old direct link to WP-blog. I substituted it by the CMS blog from presta. So it seems, that it is only possible to have it as a blog. in2sky
thanks. so what is the blog address like?I thought it's like : "http://www.mysite.com/cms.php?id_cms=8" or something like that. thanks! Can't seem to make it work. guest*
My link ist pointing to /content/category/1-home. But be careful in version 1.4.2. there are changes in the linking structure again. (I'm beta tester), so you have to link it after an update to the new link structure.
in2sky
I'm using 1.4.017 and the link structure for CMS stuff is something like "http://www.mysite.com/cms.php?id_cms=8"What I don't understand is this: The link to use is the blog category right? In that case, when I create a sub category to HOME called BLOG, I should use this link as the blog. And each posts will be under this BLOG subcategory, am I right? A bit confused I must confess. And it doesn't look like there's a proper tutorial/manual about this matter on PS, or I searched in the wrong place
guest*
No. It's not the link structure I have. You can easy check it by yourself. Got to the title "BLOG" than in FF you can see the link on bottom. I think IE you can also see the link by going with your mouse over there. When you link the Link blog, than a cms page will be open with all your blog categories and you can choose from there instead of the links of the block. in2sky
On Prestashop's backend, if you mouse over elements, you don't get the front end link but the backend link.(btw I speak french in case you do).I've searched the forums and it doesn't seem like there's anyone using the CMS as a blog.I hope it'll work because I don't want to have anything too fancy as far as blog goes, so I guess CMS should do. guest*
Sorry not for me. When I go with the mouse over the Title "BLOG" than it shows the link. When I copy this link, or type it in the browser URL-line, than I access directly to the same page of the blog categories...Are you sure that your files are really all 1.4.0.17 presta original ? The Link-structure (cms...), which you named is from the old 1.3.X, but not 1.4.X. All links from presta 1.4. on are automatically setted to friendly-URL and do not contain =?id, ore something else.Did you generated a new .htaccess after updating ? It seems you are using an old one or not original 1.4. files.
in2sky
you're right, I had to update the htaccess. just done it.the link appears as : http://www.mysite.come/en/content/category/7-blog When I hit this url, a block called "BLOG" appears on my left column, and a list of entries (I just posted 2 entries as test). No dates or titles though. and when you click on an entry, the left block disappears. Here's a screenshot for the BLOG directory, and one for an entry. guest*
I use presta original. I see that you have made some changes in the block "BLOG". Perhaps here is the problem. I don't know, I'm not an IT-proficient only merchant. Original the block should be the same as mine (I've only colored the Title tab into green) listing only the categories. What is showing in yours is what is showing on pagination of the selected BLOG (see picture attached). By opening one of the categories, my block "BLOG" don't disappear. guest*
Last night I looked at the prospect of adding the ability for users to place comments on PrestaShop CMS article pages.I decided it's not something I'd care to wrestle with trying to code.We have no "hook" available to insert a "block of comments" to an article page, so I figgered "okay, so override CMScontroller & add instruction at its bottom to output a comment section, but... we would wind up with "all or nothing" scenario -- no way to flag individual pages to control whether or not comments could be posted to a particular page. Terms-n-Conditions, Shipping Info, every CMS page would be open to commentary.Next consideration (er, problem) is unilingual vs multilingual?Display all comments regardless of user's selected language?Display only comments matching user's selected language?Display all comments and include a text note stating that comments are expected in the shop's default language?Next consideration: if "new posts are marked pending until approved by shop staff" (I insist) now, suddenly we need a new backoffice AdminTab and/or a section on the dashboard page (AdminHome) in order to manage posts. http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFI-1938

Would be nice if Presta staff would have a chapter in its manual about this matter, so that it works on any template.
guest*
How does presta knows, what you have changed in you own template ??? Sorry but this what you want is not possible. By using your own template you must aks the developer of the template to make the changes, or dou it by yourself. How old are your template ? Perhaps it is also not compatible with smarty3. From presta 1.5 nwards smarty2 will not work anymore, so when you buy or built up a template, there are always changes to be made. My theme was an changed 1.3. which is not working on presta 1.4. in some things. So I cloned the original 1.4. and adapted it again with all my changes, not only colors. If you buy one you must ask the developer if he has an update. Such things are beyond of presta services and updates.
in2sky
I don't see the connection between what we're doing now, configuring the CMS, and CSSing my template?
guest*
You've changed someting in the block. This is not original presta, so the change MUST not run. It can, but it mustn't. All own changes, goes to own risk. Also I don't knwo how old your template is. Presta changed to smarty3 so smarty2 templates could have problems now or in future. You must also update your template with the new queries.
in2sky
Thanks, I'm going to check all this. The template (MAtrice) is recent, it's been updated for 1.4 support, but the maker (2link) doesn't give support anymore. The template being free, I can understand that. haije
Beside comments, categories, keywords etc., the MOST IMPORTANT feature in blogs are of course that it has automatic RSS feed, so that readers can easily follow it. Is it possible with CMS, and how? (I am completely new user).
guest*
Yes it is. I explained how in another post: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewreply/459308/i.e. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/46529/P540/contribution_news_modulemod #
stephane-v
To create a blog with Prestashop, you can also use Eihwaz corenews module. The original module does not work with PS1.4 and is not supported by the author anymore. But I and some other contributors managed to upgrade it so it works. See the following post : http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/46529-contribution-news-modulemod/page__st__520 It's better than using CMS because visitors (guests or registered) can post comments which you can moderate. You can see how it looks like (with a few customizations) on my web site www.playdsir.com Stéphane
