Solly Kurzman
Hi there, I have been trying to install PrestaShop but have repeatedly received the error "1: You are not allowed to install modules." when at 67% in the installation process under the section of Install Addons Modules. I cannot work out how to solve this issue, please help. Thanks, Solly Attached is a screenshot of the page with the alert that appears on error. Ob3yDesire
Exact same error here, any feedback from anyone on this?
Solver
Confirm that modules folder permission are 755, if not change the permission for this folder recurssively
Ob3yDesire
Yep, folder modules is set with permission 755. Just to note, I contacted my host company (GoDaddy) and referenced that at the point just before this error occurs it shows utilisation on cPanel at 100%. This issue has now been forwarded to their Tier 3 Support. Once I get feedback, I will update this ticket. Any other ideas in the meantime would be great. Ob3yDesire
Now I've moved to a paid hoster, all module installs have gone without a problem. Thanks for the response though.
skijump
I have the same issue today for a fresh 1.7.7.4 install on a Godaddy server. The utilization rate is 1Mb allowable. Thus I had to bump up to the $29 plan/month and it worked smoothly. Edited May 7, 2021 by skijump (see edit history)

Quite expensive in view that a VPS comes to around €100 a year with good RAM and enough space. You need to know how to configure the VPS but that is no rocket science. Prestashop is quite easy to move, to install in VPS, the Virtual Private Servers are often better priced than shared hosting. Presta is not to blame IMHO
