Creating Custom Page & Making Order

I am trying to make a custom product type, one that is fully customizatiable for the customer. I've tried to do this within the bounds of the normal products however I want to keep that how it is and make this new product type. So I was wondering if this is a possibility and if someone could point me in the right direction. 

 

I essentially want to make a new custom page(I know this is possible) Where the customer will build the product and then via a module process an order like a normal website/page. So I'm wondering how would I process the order? I'm going to hold the extra/custom variables in their own database table, but just wondering how I could run the order like a normal product? Essentially send the price, details etc over to presta and let that take over...
