Installed latest version 2-3 days ago and can see site but Admin folder times out before displaying

Hello All,

This is a two-part question, I guess.

I just installed the latest stable version 1.4.0.17 on a DreamHost domain account.

I have been able to add a few products to the site and I can point my browser to the site at:

www.cleanroommatsinfo.com but when I attempt to login to the admin area which is at:

www.cleanroommatsinfo.com/admin/ I simply get a blank screen, in other words the browser
session times out and never displays the Admin login dialog box.

I have tried this in both Firefox and IE and have cleared the cache in both browsers and tried new
browser sessions without success.

I am wondering for myself and others if there is a way to do an in-place re-install without affecting
the database or any customizations?

Could this have something to do with the way the server is configured?

I am left wondering where my browser is going and I'm not sure how to check it.

Also, I am not sure how to determine all of the server info, php version, etc. that I noticed is wanted here.
