Can't change the logo to png! PS 1.4

I've just installd prestashop 1.4.

I've copied the theme to create my own and working locally offline on my computer through WAMP.
I want to change the logo from jpg to a transparent png.
I've searched the forum and didn't find any good answer.

I tried to change it in the header.tpl but nothing happens even though I've put the correct logo.png in the right folder and emptied cache and all.
I've deleted the logo.jpg-file from the folder and all that happens is that a text link appers instead.

Please help me.

I've solved the problem. After the changes I need to go into tools/smarty and empty cache.

The same has happened with my logo.
I've installed prestashop 1.4.
I've copied my logo.png in the folder /img
I've deleted logo.jpg in the folder /img
I've changed header.tpl

After changes I have gone to tools/smarty/cache and deleted everything.
But my logo still appears as logo.jpg and it is not transparent!!!
Please, can you tell me if I forget anything?

I've found solution in other of your post.
The folder to empty is tools/smarty/compile/cache.

I have changed my header.tpl
I have also emptyed the catche.

I have solved the problem doing that:
-modifiying header.tpl writing logo.png instead of logo.jpg
-put your logo.png in your right folder
-go in to tools/smarty/compile and empty files there
