HELP!! 1.37 Works - 1.4.017 Does NOT! Same Server Same DB Setup

Initial Install both versions - 1.3.7 and 1.4.0.17 on SAME LINUX SERVER PHP 5.2+ MySQL
CLEAN - NO Add-ons - or customization.
After installing 1.3.7 - looking at shop - works as expected.
After installing 1.4.0.17 - ONLY homepage works.
The product detail pages or any clicked links do NOT load product page correctly.
CONTENT MISSING - See attached images.
Does this shop script (1.4.0.17 work or not.
Makes no sense, that one version is fine (removed prior to virgin installation of 1.4.0.17)
not installed as an upgrade!

Any valued insight is appreciated.
All indications are script / store installed completely and correctly.

After comparing the local install structure against the server install, it appears that the THEME folder was corrupt/incomplete upload. REINSTALL THEME FOLDER only and problem appears to have been resolved.
