Taxes for different countries

Hello,

If my online store is in Canada and I want to sell in (for example) Italy, do I have to charge Italian taxes (VAT)?
I thought the answer to my question was common or simple, but when I looked for solutions online I found mixed replies, somebody says A) that I have to charge the taxes of the "destination" country, others say the taxes of the country where my store is. Option A) makes more sense to me, but why would I collect Italian, Australian, U.S., ... taxes in Canada?
