I have to modify the email templates in order to add some legal verbiage.

I modified the html and txt files that I've found under mails/en, as well as under mails/fr. Yet when I test the new emails, I receive the bodies from the old templates. What's the proper way to make sure that only the modified files are used? (I run version 1.7.6.1 - caching not in use yet)
