ChrisLNZ
Hi BarrySorry for the delay - I'm in New Zealand so time diff look in themes>...>authentication.tplabout line 61it should look like this: {l s='Forgot your password?'} I suspect your path is incorrect
finners
Hi Chris,Thanks for the reply.I checked the .tpl file:This was on the line: getPageLink('password.php')}"> so I changed that to what you suggested. On the authentication page, now the link appears to work ie however when it's clicked it links back to the homepage......so I dont know what to do next! Is there another file I should edit??Thanks a millBarry
ChrisLNZ
I am surprised that the tpl file had that? Are you sure you edited and uploaded the correct file?Alternatively, you may have a problem with browser cache - clear it and try again.
ChrisLNZ
I had another look at your site the source code looks correct: I suggest that you check that you do actually have password.php will be directly under the root for your shop - in your case in the prestashop folder. If it is there you may have an .htaccess setup that is redirecting it - it isn't going to a 404 page.Sorry I can't be of much more help
finners
Thanks ChrisI regenerated the .htaccess file but it is still not working properlyThe password.php file is in the root folder so I'm none the wiserWhen i type the link ie www.propertyone.ie/prestashop/password.php it redirects to the homepage...Does anyone have any suggestions? freeset
Actually it would be really helpful if someone could spell out exactly what is involved in this fix for those of us whose understanding is limited. An answer feels so close, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to be changing...UPDATE:Here is a simple solution in another post that worked for me:http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/103706/#426843
bsmooth
OMG, the solution of "empty password URL" w/ URL rewrite turned on is so simple yet so frustrating. Please note that the default "friendly URL" of password.php is an empty field, and thus the URL rewrite tool will create a empty URL for you.1) Go to BO > Preferences > SEO and give password.php a valueWho's bright idea was it to leave these SEO friendly URLs as empty values in the latest releases of 1.4.0 and above?
