In addition to the high customizability, the possible number of products that can be used in the system without it getting slow is also important to me. For a shared host you will have the restrictions of the host itself. If on a dedicated server or network you will have the restrictions of your server/network. All depends on your needs and the infrastructure you are using. And BTW also SQL databases have restrictions. You can optimize systems but nothing is open to never ending point...
