unable to update settings

Hi all,

I wanted to enter a new product to my shop. When I tried to save I got the message "unable to update settings". I tried it several times for the same  product without success. Accidentally I opened the preview of teh category for which I entered the product and saw, that the product I wanted to enter was displayed as often as I tried to enter. However on the product page, where nI wanted to enter the product I could not see any product.

I have to say that I installed the shop in cpanel recently and that this was my 1st product I wanted to enter. Maybe there is anything wrong in the settings, configuration which I have overseen. If anybody has any idea please let me know.
