Editing text on the search bar

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to edit the placeholder text for the header search bar.

I can hard code this in the search bar .tpl file of the module but would rather edit the translation.

I have check in the admin panel under translations but cannot find the text:

Search our catalog

Yes I have tried, cannot find the text anywhere.

Looks like I'm going to have to hardcode this edit. It's such a shame that some very single edits are near impossible to figure out with prestashop.

You have to check all types of translations in PS admin

I have already checked all of these sections but cannot find it.

In the end I gave up and hard coded the edit by replacing the placeholder variable.

I was looking for something else and found your question 5 years later:) Leaving this here for others to find.

To translate the search bar placeholder, you have to select the module so you can translate it. Navigate to “International”->”Translations”. If you are using PrestaShop native search, it should be “iqitsearch” than scroll down and look for “SEARCH-BAR”.
