CJH
Because a module required changes to core files, made by the developer to v1.7.4.4, I could not upgrade without breaking everything. So, I have mostly finished building a new website in v1.7.6.1, but wish to use as much as I can from the old one, such as the email templates. I've kept the language the same in the new shop, but I see that with 1.7.6 there is a new structure for email templates (I think). So is it as easy as finding the old shop email templates (for invoice and welcome and pdf attachments and so on) and copying them into the new shop? I assume copy the files into the theme and overwrite whatever is in there, or where should they be copied from and to?
Chill_user
Yes, it's not complicated: All your pdfs are stored in your_web_folder/pdf repository. You can replace this folder with the new one once you update your platform. Normally after the updating to 1.7.6.1 just replace the folder and than in BackOffice change email setting for the email to "classic" option. About your web site design: If you didn;t modify the "core" files, everything below must be ok: /template/your_theme folder /override folder /pdf folder (but you can replace files) /assets/css files and js files /modules folder But anyway, do a backup of your system and database, you can normally do it at in your BO of hosting providers account. Also, some installed modules can be not compatible with new version.
CJH
Thank you so much Amantha. I'll get on with moving the email templates from the old to the new. This is a fresh install of 1.7.6.1, and all modules that I have used have been updated, so all is in order. I do have backups ... I have an associated query. I did a lot of work in the 'old' 1.7.4.4 on translations, essentially changing the English from EN (ie US) to British. I kept the name of the language the same, expecting to simply import these across. But now I find that this ability has been turned off. Is there any way to take the translated files from one 1.7 and put them in the new one? Is this also a 'simple' matter of tracking down files and copy/move them?
