How do I actually edit my live webpage?

So I downloaded the files from the server of the website with FTP and tried to edit the cart. I found the shopping-cart.tpl file and no matter what html code I insert, for example a simple text, nothing changes. I thought this platform was similar with Joomla but it seems so hard to do anything. I cannot even add custom code to let's say insert an image in a specific location in my cart. Am I missing something? Please let me know.

Here is a process, you download file with FTP, edit in your text editor, save file and upload file to server.

If changes are not visible there could be few things to check.  First clear PrestaShop cache in Advanced Parameters > Performance

and do full, hard refresh of page in browser.  If you have any 3rd party module connected to cache clear that too or if you have some cloud service

like Cloudflare, clear cache there too.
