Diamond - while I can't speak to other states or municipalities, I assure you that in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shipping costs are fully taxable. Shipping is considered an intrinsic part of the selling price whether included in the selling price or added as a separate line item.

I've searched the forum without finding a specific reference to a UPS shipping module for USA ground shipping. I have to believe there's something out there that would calculate current shipping costs without having to fill in any of the grids available with Prestashop but perhaps I'm mistaken about that. What am I missing? Thanks.

Adjusting homepage logo
dgf15215 replied to dgf15215's topic in Installing PrestaShop for the first time
Kate - thanks - unfortunately the centering command doesn't seem to work and I've tried it a couple of different ways. If I tell it to go to the right it works fine but not center. I have a fellow I work with who knows a bit more about this than I do and he's tried it as well and is convinced that it's a bug in the formating code but I'll live with it. I noted that on your site the graphic is about the width of the center section in any case so perhaps I'll simply have a graphic about that large created and solve the problem that way. I saw somewhere else that you were asking about discounting a product based on quantity. The site I'm putting up had some special code written for it that adjusts the prices of any one of the 400 or so items based on the total number of items (any item) ordered and prompts the user to add to the order by showing what the next savings quantity discount would be. I've seen the prototype of it and will be ready shortly to implement it. Again, thanks for your response and you have a nice site. Cards are cool. Don Friedman Pittsburgh, PA -
I have imported items as well as manually entered items that show up under the category headings but are not showing up under the supplier heading and I am trying to figure out why. If I go into the supplier heading it shows each supplier code and how many items are listed in each code but when I attempt to access them they aren't showing up. On the admin side the items show up as they should under the supplier code. Can anyone suggest what may have gone afoul here? Thnx.

Adjusting homepage logo

Rylersbud, I paid attention to your post and made the adjustments you suggested. Thank you. It didn't solve my problem however, that's because I used the wrong terminology when asking the question. I see that your shop logo is very large and see what you did; the logo I am trying to adjust is the secondary logo that is placed in the center area below the homepage logo and is entered through the front page text editor module. I'm attempting to center it on the page and don't know exactly where to go to impact the placement - it seems to be aligned to the left, I need it centered. Don -

I want to thank both of you for your help figuring out how to make an animated GIF file work in my shop. It took a bit of doing but this thread gave me the final touch I needed. Don Friedman Pittsburgh, PA (Under development) www.medical-labels.com -
Adjusting homepage logo

Yes, that would be great. What I would really like is to know how to accomplish that whenever I choose another image. -
I was unable to upload a replacement home page logo through the editor as I kept getting an error message telling me my graphic file was too large. After reading a number of posts here I figured out how to replace the homepage_logo.jpg with my own file but at that point my knowledge comes to an unfortunate end and I need some help. How could I adjust the placement of that new image so that it is centered on the page? Thanks for your help.

How would I go about disabling/removing the sort option in the supplier block? Thnx.

David - it's a roundabout argument I guess. Most of my products are going into private medical practices and the case weight runs around 30lbs. I may have one or two customers who actually come and pick this stuff up, virtually all of it is shipped FedEx Ground and my customer pays both the shipping cost and tax on the shipping cost. You and I certainly agree: An easy to implement system of collection wouldn't hurt our online efforts but it has to be fair, consistent and easy. Hope your weather is a bit better in NC than what I've seen on the weather channel. I will be driving through on the way to Florida next week and don't want any problems! Spring baseball is around the corner.

David - it seems to me that eventually the governments will get together to figure out an approach to a solution that will be software-driven and like the post office's zip code engine, the right tax can be found for each address and then processed through a central system so that you and I won't have to file separate reports for each entity. That's the only practical solution. As someone who has a physical store and presence I very much resent the ability of online merchants to avoid the sales tax system altogether. Even if my online competitor sells for the same price, I'm at a 7% disadvantage from the get go. Exactly who is that fair to? Certainly not to me who has made the physical investment in property, inventory and etc. By law I'm supposed to pay a "use tax" when I buy from out of state and avoid paying sales tax but less than 1% of all business entities report that so in essence it's not collected. That being said, there has to be a practical way to collect and pay it with a reasonable amount of certainty and with today's technology it should be both possible and easy. Come to think of it, it seems like a very natural extension of the post office's mapping/delivery system technology and eminently practical. Maybe a way for them to make the bucks they're losing with the loss of first-class mail. Don Friedman Pittsburgh

Mohsart - thank you for your response and I might try that. Given a choice I would prefer a simpler listing - almost a spread sheet listing where you would click on the line (the description) and it would bring you to the item. On your site each items takes up a lot of vertical space making scrolling up and down the items more cumbersome when there is 400+ items. Thanks and if I ever need a Chinese board game I know where to go!

I am working on setting up a cart with about 400 items in it, each an item with specific text on it. One way that I'd like my customers to find the particular item they want is by alphabetically listing the items in text form so they can easily locate the specific wording that they're looking for. I also want to incorporate the 'categories' feature because these items all break down into about 10 specific categories and this feature would be used by those more interested in browsing what's available rather than looking to match exactly what they have. How might I go about listing those 400 items in way that makes the most sense and in a way that makes the entire list available to the user by scrolling up and down?

Here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (the term 'Commonwealth' is another title for what we refer to here as "States") sales tax is based on the county in which the sale is made. My business is in Allegheny County and when I sell a good or product to anyone else in the Commonwealth I have to charge a full 7% sales tax which includes a 6% State Tax and a 1% local County tax. Less than an hour's drive away away there is no local sales tax and they get to charge the same customer only 6%. So I don't need to know what county they're in, just what county I'm in. Newbie looking for item count/quantity discount add-on
dgf15215 replied to dgf15215's topic in Core developers
It is a moments like these that I so regret not having paid attention in French Class during my college years. It doesn't even bother me when I'm actually in France because so many of you speak English, but when clicking on your web site and seeing such beautiful items and then not having a clue what they are . . . well, that's payback for my lack of attention. I have located someone who believes that they can fairly quickly add a feature to a shopping cart that will apply an across the board discount to all items in the cart based on the total number of items ordered which is exactly what I want. More importantly, what I need the modification to do is constantly update each line item in the sales cart to reflect the current discounted price and to prompt the buyer to achieve a greater discount on all items by adding "x" number of items to the order. I will certainly let the community know how this works out and when the site is up and active demonstrate it. Vezy, is Maedup & Co. a physical store? I'm asking because my [spam-filter] and I will be in Southern France this late summer. Don Friedman Pittsburgh, PA USA -
I am attempting to use PrestaShop to sell items that offer a discount based on the cumulative number of items ordered and am looking for an add-on that will continually show in the shopping cart the number of items in the cart and the discount that the user is entitled to based on that quantity. So if you were to order three boxes of item "X" the cart would show a message that you're entitled to a 0% discount on three items but if you added any two more items you would be entitled to a 5% discount on everything. If anyone is interested in developing an add-on like this I'd love to talk to you.
